About Mirna

Mirna is an Occupational Therapist with over 5 years of experience working with individuals 18 years and above. Mirna is registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia and is a full-time Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) member. 

 

Occupational Therapists specialise in assessing how a person’s mental health condition impacts their quality of life and functioning. We work with people to better understand their mental health condition and assist with developing and achieving personal goals such as living more independently, developing hobbies, forming community connections, returning to work or studying. 

 

Mirna has extensive experience in assessing and treating a variety of complex mental health conditions developed through her employment within the Department of Psychiatry in a major hospital in WA. 

 

Her areas of interest include (but not limited to):

 

Depression

Anxiety

Eating disorders

Psychosis

Schizophrenia

Bipolar Affective Disorder 

Chronic diseases

 

Mirna utilises a range of interventions in her practice including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills, mindfulness, sensory modulation, behavioural activation, graded exposure, motivational interviewing, the adaption of daily tasks; amongst others. 

 

A person may be suitable for Occupational Therapy services if they are experiencing any of the following:

  • Lack of routine and structure 

  • Lack of meaning and purpose

  • Difficulty functioning or coping in their home or work environment 

  • Social isolation

  • Lack of coping skills

  • Feelings of loneliness 

  • Poor motivation 

  • Poor self-esteem 

  • Sleep hygiene education

  • Difficulty with self-care and home management tasks

  • Energy conservation education

  • Managing chronic illness

Fees and Rebates

Standard sessions are 50 minutes. The fee is dependent on the session length and if Mirna is required for a home visit. Please call Mirna to discuss this in more detail. 

Note: If you are referred for Occupational Therapy under Mental Health Care Plan, you can access 10 rebated sessions per calendar year with a possible further 10 in you have been affected by COVID 19. The current rebate for these sessions is $81.90.

Mirna also accepts referrals under Chronic Disease management plans. 

 

NDIS

Referrals for self-managed and plan managed NDIS recipients are accepted. Please contact Mirna for more information.
