About Us

Clinical Psychology Services began over 10 years ago. We are a group of independent practitioners who share the same values and dedication to our fieldWe provide therapy for difficulties ranging from complex psychological disorders, work place conflict, relationship difficulties, life transitions or those just wanting to explore ways to reduce stress and enhance their wellbeing.

Clinical Psychology?

Clinical Psychologist's are highly trained mental health professionals with extensive postgraduate University training (minimum of 6 years). In reality training is life long due to ongoing supervision and professional development. These requirements are compulsory for all Clinical Psychologists.

One key difference between Clinical Psychologists who have completed postgraduate training, and other therapists and counsellors is that in addition to providing general counselling and therapy, a Clinical Psychologist is qualified to provide diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. We are trained in the assessment, treatment and prevention of a wide range of emotional, behavioural and interpersonal issues. The most common reasons people see a Clinical Psychologist is depression and anxiety, and with 1 in 4 people being affected by these issues, seeing a Clinical Psychologist is more common than most people realise. All Psychologists are required to be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. This ensures that the specified standards of competence and ethical practice are adhered to.

Our Approach

We aim to provide you with an experience that is transformative, that empowers you to live your life with more meaning and fulfillment. A fundamental element of psychotherapy is insight. We hope to guide you to understand the causes of your difficulties and help you develop tools and strategies to change. This includes equipping you with psychological knowledge relevant to you, and helping you to apply that knowledge effectively in your life.

The relationship between you and your therapist is key! Developing a collaborative, warm and respectful relationship will make therapy much more effective for you. If you do not trust your therapist it will be difficult to explore your issues at the depth required to achieve change.

Your psychologist has a lot to learn about you. We pride ourselves on our comprehensive assessments. As we get to know you in the early sessions of your therapy, the form of your therapy will take shape. This is the collaborative process. Together we will keep track of the helpfulness of your therapy as it progresses, and we will fine-tune it’s direction along the way.

Finding the right Psychologist for you can be daunting and difficult. We recommend you call the person you choose, ask plenty of questions and discuss what you are hoping to achieve.

Beyond Psychology

CPSP is proud to be adding an Occupational therapist to our team! Occupational therapists have always shared a valued place beside us in the government sector and we excited to be able to offer these services in the private therapy space. Occupational Therapists offer a range of skills and interventions for individuals wanting to improve quality of life and enhance overall wellbeing.
